Web Hosting & Domain FAQ

Transferring a .AU domain name registration

You can transfer .au domain names to us for free. Any remaining registration time will be transferred. When the domain is due for renewal we send notifications reminding you to login to our website to renew the domain before expiry.

To transfer a domain you will need to place an order through our website. You will need the domain transfer password to authorise and complete the order.

You can obtain your domain transfer password from your current Domain Registrar by logging into their website. Alternatively you can get it sent to the current domain contact email address by completing the form at https://pw.auda.org.au/

After placing the domain transfer order

After placing the order on our website you will receive an email with a confirmation link. You need to click that link to initiate the transfer. After clicking the link it will take 48 hours for the transfer to complete.

Notes:

If you need to change your nameservers to use our web hosting you should do that before starting the transfer because the nameservers cannot be updated while the transfer is in process.

If you don’t have access to the current domain contact email address you will need to contact the current Registrar to get it updated, otherwise you won’t be able to receive the confirmation email and link. You can check the current domain contact email using the form on this page https://whois.auda.org.au/.
